Back To The Cell Blocks After A Heart Attack

Rodrigo — Latacunga, Ecuador

An Ecuadorian prison chaplain returned to Latacunga's cell blocks four months after a heart attack his doctors did not expect him to survive.

Back To The Cell Blocks After A Heart Attack
Even the doctors did not believe I would survive.

Thank you very much for being part of this ministry, which has been such a blessing to many people. I am a pastor and chaplain who ministers in the prison of Latacunga, Ecuador. We visit several cell blocks where we have seen the work of Christ. We have been able to share some messages of hope from Pastor Stephen Davey with many inmates, and I would kindly ask you to pray for this ministry, that it would be effective in proclaiming the Word of the Lord.

At the same time, please pray for me as well, that I may live a life of holiness. I recognize that I still have much to surrender to the Lord, because at times I find myself confronted by areas of my life that I have not yet fully yielded to Him.

In January, I suffered a severe heart attack when two coronary arteries became blocked, forming a clot that nearly took my life. Even the doctors did not believe I would survive. But after four long months, I was able to return to the prison last week to share the Word with those serving long sentences of 10 to 40 years.

I shared from Deuteronomy 8:2–3, and what God did that morning of May 20 was tremendous. There was conviction of sin, but also the manifestation of the righteousness of God in Christ, through whom we are justified and redeemed.

Please pray for this ministry, and that God would help and guide me in all that I do, in holiness. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this request. A heartfelt embrace.
