The Real Barrier
They have the Word. What they need is a guide.
On a desert road south of Jerusalem, an Ethiopian official sat in his chariot with the scroll of Isaiah open before him. He had the Scriptures. He had traveled far to worship. He was reading the very words that point to Christ — and still he could not find his way in.
When Philip drew near and asked whether he understood what he was reading, the man answered with a question that still echoes today:
“How can I, unless someone guides me?”
Acts 8:31
His barrier was never access. It was understanding. He didn't need a translation — he needed a guide. And when Philip sat beside him and opened that Scripture, it led the man straight to Jesus, and he went on his way rejoicing.
For generations, the church has labored to put the Bible into the languages of the world, and that work is holy and vital. But access was never the whole story. The Ethiopian already held Isaiah in his hands. What he lacked was someone to sit beside him and open it.
Across the world today, the same is true. Hundreds of languages now have Scripture — yet the people who speak them can read the words without ever grasping their meaning. A Bible on the shelf is not the same as a Savior understood. These are not people with a translation problem. They have an understanding problem.
Like the Ethiopian on that road, what they need is not another copy of the text. They need a trustworthy guide to explain it.
The Wisdom Journey
A trustworthy guide, in their own language
The Wisdom Journey exists to be that guide. Verse by verse and book by book, it opens the Scriptures and explains them clearly, faithfully, and simply — the way Philip did on the desert road — until the meaning becomes plain and the reader is pointed to Christ.
We carry that teaching into people's heart languages and to wherever they already are, so that no one has to sit with the Word open and no one beside them. Sound. Christ-centered. Understandable. A voice that comes alongside the listener and says, in effect, let me help you understand.
The Vision
Mission 2050
There are billions of “eunuchs” still on that road — reading, searching, and waiting for someone to help them understand. Mission 2050 is our answer to them: ten new languages every year for twenty-five years, until The Wisdom Journey is a trustworthy guide in 250 languages by the year 2050 — reaching the largest and least-reached language communities on earth.
