No Retirement Until He Takes Me Home

Mary — Nampa, Idaho, USA

Turning 87 this Sunday and widowed in May, she is on her second pass through the Wisdom Journey and still discipling a younger woman.

No Retirement Until He Takes Me Home
keep hearing no retirement in service to the Lord until he takes me home

This is my second time through WJ as I and two Oregon friends started as soon has WJ. began. We share what we learn in an email thread. I am so thankful for the Lord leading me to Shepherd’s church and this journey. The Lord knew I would need this and through the scriptures and teaching has deepened my faith and continues to do so. We moved to Idaho three years ago and built a home together with our daughter and family and have our own apartment. My husband had dementia and passed away in May 2025. I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was 17. Many bad choices were made along the way, but Jesus never forsook me and for that He receives the glory. Three children, one I heaven now and married to same man almost 66 years by God’s grace. I have been in women’s ministry in several churches as we moved many times and non military. Now I am still able to be involved to a degree in our local church, again for which God receives all the glory. I am in exceptionally good health and keep hearing no retirement in service to the Lord until he takes me home. I am discipling a young woman, able to help in congregational care and serve on up front prayer at church, plus my eye sight still good enough to drive a few miles at night for a life group. The Lord is gracious. As I write this we are on vacation in the Bend, Oregon area for a few days. It is smoky from the fires nearby. We will celebrate my 87th on Sunday. I am so grateful to support in a small way WJ and so realize how the Lord is blessing WJ in the short time it has aired and how far reaching it has become. I pray for all the staff and love seeing your new building. If I were younger I would plan to be there for the Gala celebration which falls on our wedding anniversary to meet so many of you in person. It is great to see others on Instagram who serve. May the Lord continue to richly bless WJ and all who serve.

The Lord is with us,

Mary Ann Storey
