The Gymnasium of God's Word

I am thankful to the Lord for the Wisdom For the Heart and Shepherd’s Church ministry. Years ago, my dad told me about BBN radio. One evening I was listening to a broadcast of Wisdom for the Heart and when the announcer stated where Pastor Davey serves as pastor (Cary, NC), I thought to myself, “I can get there!” I live in Raleigh (smile). The Wisdom for the Heart broadcast and Pastor Davey’s ministry at Shepherd’s Church are tremendous blessings to me. Pastor Davey delivers solid bible teaching with practical application. His ministry on radio and as pastor at Shepherd’s Church has helped me grow spiritually.

For a number of years my dad (now with the Lord) would often gather our family for Bible lessons. Once he passed away, I realized that I had to take serious responsibility for my spiritual growth. One particular sermon that Pastor Davey preached really resonated with me. He said in so many words that you have got to get into the gymnasium of God’s Word and work up a sweat! That imagery was so vivid to me. I realized that in order to grow in Christ that I had to be intentional about hearing/reading/studying and applying God’s Word to my life. To hear God’s word is one thing, but Oh that I might be a doer! For a number of years, I have been reading through many of Pastor Davey’s past messages. Reading through them has been an important element in my spiritual growth. I am not where I want to be, but I am very thankful that our Lord and Saviour is patient with me, His servant. Congratulations Wisdom for the Heart for 25 years of ministry. To God be the glory, great things HE has done!
