Quoting the Truth Without Living It
Amy — Liberty, South Carolina, USA
A single line about Jonah stopped her mid-page, exposing idols she had put above God, and began a book-by-book journey she plans to finish by 2027.

“Jonah could quote the truth, he didn’t want to live it!”
I was living a very selfish and prideful “lifestyle” until I was encouraged to listen to Pastor Stephen by family. I heard several sermons and this led me to reading Jonah in February of 2025. I grew up in a Godly home learning scripture and knew His truth. I also was very aware when I would hear untruth from others but pushed it all of down or ignored it due to my own selfish desires.
Something changed when I heard Pastor Stephen, it was the opposite, my heart stood still and the Spirit impressed upon me that I better pay attention. As I was reading Jonah, there it was…the quote of all quotes that stopped me in my tracks. “Jonah could quote the truth, he didn’t want to live it!” My heart sunk and my eyes filled with tears. I had put everything above Him as idols and crushed His heart.
I knew the truth and chose not to live it. I repented and return to Him! I have sought Him daily since through my study of His Word as I have continued with my Journey with Pastor Stephen through 41/66 books so far with him. My goal is to finish by early Spring of 2027.
What a blessing it has been of my life now changed in Him for His glory! All glory to Christ and gratitude to Pastor Stephen for remaining true to teaching the Truth in love!
